Zilker Labs’ Mixed-Signal Power ICs
to Support PMBusTM Standard

APEC 2005 – AUSTIN, Texas – March 7, 2005 – Zilker Labs, Inc., today confirmed that its innovative mixed-signal power management solutions support the Power Management Bus standard for power systems control. Zilker Labs’ proprietary technology minimizes the number of components required in board-level power designs, reducing system costs, board space requirements and design complexity. By supporting the Power Management Bus (PMBus™) standard, Zilker Labs further ensures the seamless integration of its products into embedded applications including telecom, datacom, storage, instrumentation and other rack-based electronic equipment.

“At Zilker Labs, we are focused on resolving the issues system designers face due to increasingly complicated power management and control demands. Our unique mixed-signal technology allows us to provide features and performance not possible with either traditional analog or pure digital implementations,” said Bob Bridge, chief executive officer of Zilker Labs. “We see the PMBus standard as the next step in easing our customers’ challenges.”

The PMBus standard defines an open architecture and communications protocol implemented over the industry-standard I2C serial bus. Its intent is to enable the industry’s move to digitally-enabled power management without requiring full redesigns of existing systems. Zilker Labs is a founding member of the coalition of leading power supply and semiconductor manufacturers formed by Artesyn Technologies that is defining the PMBus standard. In addition to Artesyn and Zilker Labs, the coalition includes Astec Power, Intersil, Texas Instruments, Volterra Semiconductor, Microchip Technology and Summit Microelectronics.

Zilker Labs and National Instruments are demonstrating a power supply and LabVIEW-based interface using the PMBus standard at the 2005 Applied Power Engineering Conference (APEC) beginning today at the Hilton Austin Hotel in Austin, Texas.
