Building an Intelligent Power System

Today’s advanced electronic systems have complex power requirements involving multiple rails at different voltages.  Zilker Labs’ Digital-DC devices are uniquely suited to solve these complex system power challenges. Digital-DC ICs are highly-integrated, high-performance digital power solutions that are designed to be universal building blocks that can be easily combined and adapted to varying system requirements.

Zilker Labs’ Digital-DC products combine a world class digital power conversion architecture with power management logic in a single IC. They require minimal external circuitry, reducing board space requirements and simplifying the design process. Digital-DC technology builds intelligence into the silicon, allowing the devices to be easily configured through simple pin settings or by using Power Management Bus (PMBusTM) commands: No programming is required. The Digital-DC product family addresses a wide range of operating conditions allowing system designers to complete designs using parts from a single supplier.

Creating a complex power system is easy using Digital-DC ICs.  Simply configure each IC via pin-strap selection and connects the serial bus (SMBus) of each device. Features like sequencing, margining and fault management do not require a host controller. All Digital-DC devices can be monitored and controlled individually or as a system.

All Digital-DC devices have the ability to manage themselves within a system of multiple Digital-DC devices through the patent-pending Autonomous Sequencing™ where the relationship between each output is configured by pin-strap settings on individual Digital-DC devices. Designers can easily change the
sequencing order using PMBus commands without making any hardware changes, providing a robust, flexible sequencing scheme.
