Zilker Labs enables unprecedented performance and design benefits with efficient, flexible, easy-to-use digital power IC solutions based on the patented Digital-DCTM technology. The company was founded in 2003 by semiconductor industry veterans who applied unique mixed-signal techniques to resolve the issues with implementing board-level power. Zilker Labs is based in Austin, Texas, and has sales offices and engineering centers throughout the United States and Asia.

As electronic systems become more sophisticated and feature-rich, board-level power requirements have become increasingly complicated. Zilker Labs’ Digital-DC devices are uniquely suited to address these complex system power challenges because they integrate highly-efficient power conversion plus complete system power management capabilities in a single package, enabling unparalleled performance and ease-of-use. Multiple Digital-DC devices can be easily combined and configured to address a broad range of system requirements.

The company’s first product, the ZL2005 Step-down DC-DC Controller, was introduced in October 2005. This product was hailed for its high efficiency and ease of use, and quickly generated widespread interest among customers as well as press and industry analysts. In 2006, the company added to its portfolio by announcing the ZL2105 3A Integrated Step-down DC-DC Converter, offering the most integrated digital DC-DC converter with integrated power management. Zilker Labs has continued to roll out innovative Digital-DC products throughout 2008, introducing a new family of devices that provides additional adaptive performance algorithms for maximizing efficiency in power-constrained applications. This new product family includes the ZL2004 and ZL2006 DC-DC controllers, the ZL1505 synchronous MOSFET driver and the ZL2106 integrated 6A digital DC-DC converter.

Technology

Performance: Zilker Labs’ unique architecture results in highly accurate power conversion capabilities with efficiency levels >90% across a broad range of operating requirements. Flexibility: Zilker Labs’ ICs have integrated intelligence that allows customers to leverage power management functions as needed by their systems.  Additionally, as universal building blocks, Zilker Labs’ ICs can be easily combined and adapted to suit varying system requirements.

Ease of Use: Zilker Labs’ solutions combine digital power conversion with power management logic in a single tiny package, reducing required component count by up to 60%. Digital-DC ICs can be easily configured with simple pin settings, avoiding the complicated programming step required by alternative solutions.

A member of each venture firm participates on Zilker Labs’ board of directors, enhancing the company’s vision and decision-making processes with a wealth of technology and business experience.  In addition, Samsung Venture Investment Corporation, a Samsung Electronics’ venture organization, has participated as a strategic investor.

Zilker Labs has direct sales offices throughout the United States and Asia. These sales offices include both sales and field applications teams to ensure that customers receive optimum customer and technical support.
